Amaechi was a key member of the splinter group that emerged from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined forces with key elements in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) to form the All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2014.

Wike on the other hand, remained in PDP and worked for ex-President Goodluck Jonathan ‘s re-election bid the following year.

He later succeeded Amaechi as Rivers State governor while the latter was appointed minister of transport by ex-President Muhammadu Buhari.

The pair no longer see eye-to-eye since the election debacle more than 10 years ago.

At the programme, Amaechi warned the opposition coalition against focusing on Wike.

He said: “Let the Minister of the FCT come, let’s take a walk from the airport to Port Harcourt, no police, no army, nothing, just the two of us.

“I don’t know why he doesn’t respect people like us; I am older. I brought him up in politics. Who is he?

“If the opposition continues to focus on him, we would be distracted from making the people know that this 2027 election is between the people — there’s no party, no ADC, no ADA, not this — versus Tinubu’s government.”
